DALLAS — Von Miller posted an AI-generated image of Dak Prescott holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy on his Instagram story Sunday and captioned it “Why not?” Prescott wears a hat reading “2027 Super Bowl Champions” in the image.

The Dallas Morning News reported the post, which carried audio from “Make Them Pay,” a song on Drake’s new album. Donovan Ezeiruaku commented on it with a cowboy emoji.

Sunday’s post came about a month after Miller put an edited image of himself in a Dallas Cowboys jersey on his Instagram story on July 8. He wore No. 24 in that image, the number he wore with the Washington Commanders in 2025, and the post used Paul Wall’s “They Don’t Know” as its audio.

As of Aug. 1, the Cowboys had not made any inquiries into Miller, according to The Dallas Morning News. A person familiar with the situation told the paper in July that there was no agreement and nothing imminent. Jane Slater of NFL Network and Joey Hayden of The Dallas Morning News both reported in July that nothing was brewing between the two sides.

What Von Miller Has Said About The Dallas Cowboys

Miller told RJ Ochoa of Blogging The Boys in July that he grew up in Dallas and has always had a place in his heart for the Cowboys.

“This would be the first time my mom and dad don’t have to fly to every single game,” Miller said.

Miller played at DeSoto High School, which retired his jersey in a homecoming ceremony in 2019. He went on to Texas A&M, where he won the 2010 Butkus Award and earned consensus All-American honors, before the Denver Broncos drafted him second overall in 2011.

Through the spring, Miller pushed publicly for reunions with Denver and Buffalo. Neither team pursued him. In May, Miller told Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post that at 37 he can still get out of bed and rush the quarterback.

“I lobby,” Miller explained. “I do lobby. I lobby publicly. I lobby privately. I do lobby.”

Von Miller’s 2025 Season With The Washington Commanders

Miller signed a one-year contract with Washington on July 16, 2025, worth $6.1 million. He appeared in all 17 games and finished with 9 sacks, 26 total tackles, and 6 tackles for loss. Miller led the Commanders in sacks while playing 37% of the team’s defensive snaps.

The Buffalo Bills released Miller in March 2025, ahead of the fourth year of the six-year, $120 million contract he signed in 2022. He recorded 6 sacks for Buffalo in 2024.

Miller has 138.5 career sacks, 607 total tackles, and 27 forced fumbles. He is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and a seven-time All-Pro. Miller won Super Bowl 50 with Denver and was named the game’s MVP, then won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams after Denver traded him at the 2021 deadline.

Dallas acquired Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets on Nov. 4, 2025. Williams was the third overall pick in the 2019 draft and has 41.5 career sacks and 343 total tackles. He has been named to four Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro in 2022.

Ezeiruaku, whom Dallas took in the second round with the 44th overall pick in 2025, finished his rookie season with 40 total tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker is in his first season in the role. Parker was Denver’s defensive backs coach in 2021, Miller’s last season with the Broncos.

The Cowboys hold a joint practice against the Rams on Tuesday at Rams Village in Woodland Hills, California, then return to Oxnard for a practice Aug. 13. Dallas opens the preseason Aug. 15 at the Seattle Seahawks, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT at Lumen Field on NFL Network. Camp in Oxnard runs through Aug. 18.
