‘Not Being A Superhero’: Tyler Guyton Says Cowboys’ Offensive Line Gelled In 204-Yard Rushing Night At Philadelphia

FRISCO, Texas — Left tackle Tyler Guyton traced the Dallas Cowboys’ 204-yard rushing night in Philadelphia back to the offseason. Dallas ran 38 times and did not allow a sack in Monday’s 38-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dak Prescott wore a shirt that read “linemen lead the way” to his postgame news conference. He went 15-of-27 for 212 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Wide receivers selling the pass while they ran downfield and tight ends “coming through and being violent” were part of the run game too, Guyton said after practice Wednesday. All 11 players on offense helped the run game go, in his words.

“I’d rather point out the team’s success,” Guyton said. “We worked all on one accord, and everybody was working in tandem with each other, wide receivers, quarterbacks, running backs, and also the offensive line and tight ends were working really good together. So I think the whole team gelled well. We were able to come out with success.”

The Cowboys are 3-4 and have not won back-to-back games this season. The Arizona Cardinals visit AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

“Continuity, having each other’s back. Doing our job, doing your one of 11 is important and not being a superhero,” Guyton explained. “Everybody’s just doing their job and doing what we’re coached to do and what we know to do and doing it violently.”

Tyler Guyton On A Line Mentality Built Since The Offseason

Javonte Williams rushed 25 times for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown. With the score, he has run for a touchdown in six straight road games, the second-longest streak in franchise history.

Nobody on the line needed to look over at Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer to keep the runs coming Monday, according to Guyton. Schottenheimer “understands football better than we all do,” he said, and anybody could see the offense was rolling.

“It was. We can feel it,” Guyton said. “When the ball is getting past you and you’re able to see Javonte breaking these tackles and getting through these holes, then it’s easy to figure out that we’re just on a roll.”

Three of Dallas’ five starting linemen are first-round picks. Guyton went 29th overall in 2024, left guard Tyler Smith went in the first round in 2022, and right guard Tyler Booker went 12th overall in 2025. Smith missed the first four games after thumb surgery and was activated Oct. 8.

“You can just feel it in our room. We’re trained pretty well, and we all have the same mentality of attacking,” Guyton said. “You can feel it in the offseason. It started back then, and you can feel it in the year before, building up to this.”

“We’re not done yet. We still have a lot to go and a lot to do, but definitely exciting to see our trajectory right now,” Guyton continued.

Guyton, Cowboys Turn To A Short Week Against Arizona Cardinals

Guyton grew up in Manor, Texas, and did not play football until his senior year of high school. He started at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma. He started 11 of his 15 games as a rookie and all 10 of his appearances last season.

This season, Guyton hurt his back late in the Oct. 8 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was limited in practice with a calf injury on Oct. 22 before a full practice the next day.

“I think confidence is something that takes time. And false confidence isn’t good either, so it takes reps,” Guyton said. “But I think the confidence that I’m playing with is just a testament to my coaches and my family and my teammates believing in me. And my Lord and Savior guiding me in my steps. So just trying to fulfill that.”

Dallas played Monday night and gets Arizona six days later. Nine Cardinals did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

“Once again, great team. They present their own challenges with being a multiple defensive front team and having all types of looks and blitzes,” Guyton said. “But I think the most important thing on a short week is just hammering out the details, taking care of the body, and just doing all the things that you know are necessary.”

Arizona is 2-5 and has won the last four meetings with Dallas, dating to 2020. Kickoff Sunday is set for noon CT on FOX.
