MACAO — Former Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion and Dallas native Chris Bosh are among 10 NBA legends who will headline NBA House Macao 2026, the league announced Monday. The free fan event runs Oct. 7-11 at The Venetian Macao in conjunction with the Mavericks’ two preseason games against the Houston Rockets in The NBA China Games 2026 presented by Taobao 88VIP.
Joining Marion and Bosh are Ray Allen, Carlos Boozer, Jeremy Lin, Stephon Marbury, Cuttino Mobley, Mitch Richmond, Luis Scola, and P.J. Tucker. Chinese basketball star Ding Yanyuhang, who played for Dallas at the 2017 NBA Summer League, will also appear.
Dallas and Houston play Friday, Oct. 9, and Sunday, Oct. 11, at The Venetian Arena. The Mavericks last played in China in 2018, when they faced the Philadelphia 76ers in Shanghai and Shenzhen. Houston’s last trip to China came in 2016, according to FOX 26 Houston.
The league said general entry to NBA House, which will take up Halls A and B of The Venetian Macao, does not require registration. Fans do need to register on NBAChinaGames.com for select performances by a lineup of artists from across Asia that includes KiiiKiii, SB19, EVAN, and Keung To of MIRROR.
Amap is presenting a food and beverage area of more than 1,500 square meters with local favorites served next to Texas cuisine. The rest of the floor will hold a merchandise village with a customization lab, NBA trophies on display for photos, viewing parties for both games, and an interactive shooting experience on a smart digital LED court called “NBA Inside the Game powered by AWS.”
Sands China is the official promoter of the games. Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont is also president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands, and he gave his statement in the NBA’s release announcing the games in January.
“I could not be prouder of having the Mavericks come to Macao,” Dumont said.
Houston Rockets alternate governor Patrick Fertitta said in the same announcement that the Rockets were honored to “bring a Texas-sized matchup to Macao.” This year’s games are the second under a five-year deal between the NBA and Sands China, the South China Morning Post reported in January. The 2025 edition featured the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns and drew a combined 22,634 fans over two games.
Shawn Marion, Chris Bosh, And Ding Yanyuhang All Played For Or Grew Up In Dallas
Marion won the 2011 NBA championship with the Mavericks, the first title in franchise history, during his time in Dallas from 2009 to 2014. Over 16 NBA seasons, he made four All-Star teams and averaged 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.
Bosh was named Texas Mr. Basketball in 2002 at Lincoln High School in Dallas, played one season at Georgia Tech, and was drafted fourth overall by the Toronto Raptors in 2003. He was an All-Star 11 times and won championships in 2012 and 2013. He averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in his career, and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inducted him in 2021.
Ding was the Chinese Basketball Association MVP for the 2016-17 season. That summer, he played for the Mavericks at the Summer League in Orlando and Las Vegas, and Dallas won the Orlando title. The Mavericks signed him on July 23, 2018, and waived him on Oct. 10, 2018, because of a knee injury.
Jeremy Lin, Luis Scola, And Cuttino Mobley Among Former Houston Rockets In Lineup
Lin, Mobley, Scola, and Tucker all played for Houston. The Rockets drafted Mobley in the second round, 41st overall, in 1998. He made the All-Rookie Second Team in 1999 and played in Houston through 2004. Scola played for Houston from 2007 to 2012 and was named to the All-Rookie First Team in 2008. Lin spent 2012 to 2014 with the Rockets.
Tucker played three seasons for the Texas Longhorns and was the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2006. He played for the Rockets from 2017 to 2021 and won the 2021 NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Allen and Marbury were traded for each other on draft night in 1996, when Marbury went fourth overall and Allen went fifth. Allen made 10 All-Star teams and won championships in 2008 and 2013 before his Hall of Fame induction in 2018. He averaged 18.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists over 18 seasons.
Marbury made two All-Star teams and averaged 19.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in the NBA before he moved to China in 2010 and won Chinese Basketball Association titles with the Beijing Ducks in 2012, 2014, and 2015. He was named CBA Finals MVP in 2015.
Richmond was the 1989 NBA Rookie of the Year, made six All-Star teams, and won the 2002 NBA championship. He averaged 21.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. Boozer played his last professional season in China with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in 2016-17. Before that, he made two All-Star teams in the NBA and averaged 16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
Tip-off for the Macao games is scheduled for 7 a.m. CT on Oct. 9 and 5 a.m. CT on Oct. 11. After Macao, the Mavericks close the preseason at home against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 14 and the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 16. Dallas opens the regular season at Houston on Oct. 21, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
