Kyrie Irving Questionable As Dallas Mavericks List 6 Players On Injury Report vs. Sacramento Kings

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have listed Caleb Martin as available with a right thumb splint for Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings at American Airlines Center. Kyrie Irving (left knee injury management) is questionable.
Santi Aldama, still working back from right knee surgery, is doubtful. Three players are out: Dereck Lively II (right foot surgery), Tarik Biberović (right heel bursitis) and Sergio De Larrea (right knee sprain). The good news is who disappeared from the report — Naji Marshall, questionable Friday with an illness, is off it entirely.
Dallas comes in at 4-2, winners of three straight. Friday’s 116-111 result handed the Houston Rockets their first loss of the season. Monday is the last of a three-game homestand.
Caleb Martin Available, Kyrie Irving Questionable
The thumb clearly isn’t bothering Martin anymore. He never left the floor in the fourth quarter Friday, hit the three that tied the game, and canned multiple threes for the second game running. He hadn’t done that in consecutive games since December 2024. In the two games since his return, he’s at nine points a night on 63.6% shooting.
Mavericks coach Dusty May has ridden a different hero just about every night of the streak. On Friday, that was Martin.
“It’s going to be somebody different that’s going to step up every night,” May said Sunday. “Last game it was Caleb Martin. Next game it’ll be fill in the blank.”
The biggest name on the report is Irving. Friday was his best game since he tore his left ACL in March 2025 — 35 points against Houston, with a 16-point fourth quarter to close it out. Daniel Gafford has seen that show before.
“I mean, it’s like watching your favorite movie over and over again. It never gets old,” Gafford said. “It’s just seeing that night in, night out. The energy is just contagious.”
Irving also went 6-for-6 at the free throw line Friday. He has now made 55 consecutive free throws. The only other players to reach that number are Charles Barkley and Larry Bird.
On the season, Irving is putting up 21.4 points a night on 52.7% shooting. Five games in, he still has not missed at the line.
The Mavericks have been cautious with the knee since opening night. Irving missed the Oct. 24 game at San Antonio, which came on the second night of a back-to-back. He was also questionable before Wednesday’s game against Oklahoma City, then went out and played.
Marshall, meanwhile, practiced Sunday and sounds like a go for Monday.
“Yeah, Naji’s feeling much, much better. He looks good. He looks ready to go,” May said.
Before the illness, Marshall put up 13.7 points and 5.7 assists a game over the first three.
Santi Aldama Doubtful; Dereck Lively II, Tarik Biberović, Sergio De Larrea Out
Aldama keeps trending the right way without quite getting there. He practiced Thursday, and May said Sunday that a debut is getting close.
“Santi, yeah, he’s doing more and more, and his target date is in the near future,” May said.
Part of that ramp-up included a same-day trip to the Texas Legends last week so he could get some scrimmage work in. This all dates back to March 17, when he had an arthroscopic procedure on the knee as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. His last real game came on Feb. 4. The Mavericks traded for him anyway on July 8 — before the knee gave out, he was having a career year in Memphis, with bests of 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists across 43 games.
Biberović, still chasing his NBA debut, goes from doubtful to out. The bursitis in his right heel has had him shelved since the preseason. The only time he’s seen the floor was Oct. 11 in Macao, when he got a run off the bench in the preseason win over Houston.
De Larrea will miss his third game in a row. The knee went out in the second quarter against Miami as he tried to corral an inbound pass. Tough timing — two nights earlier against San Antonio, he had poured in 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
And then there is the longest absence of all. Lively last played on Nov. 21, 2025 — seven games into the season, the right foot gave out again. He underwent a third surgery on that foot in December, his third in a calendar year, and that was that for 2025-26.
You wouldn’t know he’s been gone by listening to his teammates, though. May volunteered after the Houston win that even in street clothes, Lively brings it from the bench. Cooper Flagg said Lively remains “one of the loudest voices” around the team.
Tip-off Monday is 7 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center, on KFAA and MavsTV+.
