Dallas Cowboys Hold Michael Trigg, Jonathan Bullard Out Of Final Oxnard Practice

OXNARD, Calif. — Michael Trigg and Jonathan Bullard were both held out of Thursday’s practice, Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said. Trigg is dealing with a toe injury. Bullard is working through tendonitis in his abdomen and groin.

Neither player practiced Monday either, in the first session the Cowboys held after the preseason opener. Schottenheimer said that day the Cowboys were not concerned about Trigg’s toe, per DallasCowboys.com.

Trigg made his NFL debut Saturday at Seattle. He caught a team-high 4 passes for 30 yards, including a 10-yard reception in the third quarter.

Dallas signed Trigg as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor after the 2026 draft, one of 11 undrafted players the team added that weekend. In his final college season, Trigg caught 50 passes for 694 yards and 6 touchdowns. He earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2025 after making the second team in 2024.

Princeton Fant tore his ACL and partially tore his MCL during the first padded practice of camp. Dallas moved him to injured reserve Aug. 6. The Cowboys claimed Zack Kuntz off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders to fill the spot. Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Luke Schoonmaker hold the top three spots on the depth chart.

Ferguson caught 82 passes for 600 yards and 8 touchdowns last season, career highs in both receptions and scores.

Jonathan Bullard’s Absence Continues On The Defensive Line

Bullard last practiced Aug. 8. Two preseason games remain before Dallas cuts to 53.

“Got a second opinion,” Schottenheimer said. “Feel really good about what we’ve found out, and I think you’ll see him beginning to feel a lot better. We’re very optimistic as we close in at the end of training camp that you’ll see him in the near future, hopefully.”

Dallas listed the injury as a hamstring on Monday. Bullard has been examined by more than one specialist during the absence.

“He’s seen some specialists, but yeah, it’s that area of the abdomen and groin,” Schottenheimer explained. “It’s a thing that we feel good about, tendonitis basically that we’re working through.”

The Cowboys signed Bullard this offseason as depth on the interior. He is 32 and entering his 11th NFL season, his first in Dallas after stops with the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints. Chicago drafted him in the third round, 72nd overall, in 2016 out of Florida.

Through last season, Bullard had 247 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 10 pass breakups.

Ahead of him on the interior are Quinnen Williams, who signed a three-year, $105.9 million extension Aug. 12, and Kenny Clark, who started all 17 games for Dallas last season. Otito Ogbonnia and rookie third-round pick LT Overton are also in the rotation.

What Comes Next For Dallas

Thursday’s session is the last one Dallas will hold in Oxnard. The Cowboys practiced against the Saints on Tuesday in the second of two joint sessions this camp, the first coming Aug. 11 against the Los Angeles Rams in Woodland Hills, California.

Dallas plays at the Cardinals on Saturday, the second of three preseason games. Open practices follow at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. The Cowboys close the preseason Aug. 28 against New Orleans, with kickoff at AT&T Stadium set for 7 p.m. CT.
