‘I Know For A Fact’: CeeDee Lamb Says No One Can Stop Cowboys Offense After Two-Touchdown Night vs. Eagles

PHILADELPHIA — CeeDee Lamb caught 2 touchdown passes from Dak Prescott on Monday night as the Dallas Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Lamb finished with 5 catches for 74 yards on 12 targets. His 9-yard touchdown on third-and-2 gave Dallas a 10-7 lead in the first quarter. His 16-yard touchdown with 1:36 left in the third quarter put the Cowboys back in front for good, and Prescott ran in the two-point conversion for a 28-21 lead.

Lamb said what the offense can be is pretty self-explanatory.

“Once we get going, I don’t think there’s a … no, I know for a fact there’s not a person in this league that can stop us,” Lamb said.

CeeDee Lamb Scores Twice As Dallas Cowboys Go 200 And 200

Dallas ran for 204 yards and threw for 212. Lamb looked up at the scoreboard during the game and saw both totals.

“We were able to get the run game started, for one, and then we were very balanced,” Lamb explained. “I looked up at the scoreboard, and I saw we had 200 on the ground and 200 in the passing yards.”

Javonte Williams ran for a career-high 155 yards. The offensive line does not get the kudos it deserves, according to Lamb.

“I feel like there’s so many people inside now. The box is stacked, and it’s like, oh, it’s just you and me out here? I think we like that,” Lamb said. “But to be honest, I feel like just watching [Javonte] break, that’s a great sight to see as a receiver, and I feel like the O-line did a great job. They don’t get as much kudos as they should. Them guys, they held it down today.”

Lamb also caught passes of 14 and 30 yards on the two-minute drive that ended in a 27-yard field goal as the first half expired. Philadelphia rerouted Lamb when it could, according to Prescott.

“They did a good job of still trying to play over the top and taking that away, clouding George and rerouting CeeDee here and there when they could,” Prescott said. “And so, yeah, even [though] they [blitzed] us early, we had the answers for it. And that allowed us to stay balanced all throughout the game.”

Dallas got the ball back deep in its own territory with 1:14 left in the first half. Schottenheimer said Tuesday the Cowboys stayed on the ball instead of using a timeout, and the double move to Lamb came out of that tempo.

“We got the ball backed up. Our mindset was kind of, hey, let’s move the ball. Let’s go ensure we get some points. We want to end the half with some points … We hit the short pass to CeeDee,” Schottenheimer said Tuesday. “We like to stay on the ball. That’s kind of our deal. Why? You want to kind of put the onus on the defense. But we were a little slow getting that play executed. Just getting lined up and getting it snapped.”

“But that’s one of the reasons why we’re able to get the big play to CeeDee is they don’t have time to talk about, hey, alert double moves and things like that,” Schottenheimer continued. “So we hit CeeDee on the double move, and I think we could have executed that play a little bit quicker. But we still got two shots at the end zone, and when you look at it, come away with points starting on the 14-yard line. I was pleased.”

On third-and-9 in the third quarter, Prescott’s throw to Lamb fell incomplete, but a defensive holding call against Philadelphia kept the touchdown drive alive. Prescott took an elbow to the stomach on the play.

“Almost scrambled when I got out of the pocket, but I saw CeeDee open and saw the pull. But different than last week. Last week, I got my ribs hit. This week, it was just like an elbow right to the middle of the gut,” Prescott explained. “Yeah, and great play call. We were able to execute it. Fortunately, we got the penalty. Probably if we don’t, then CeeDee catches and we move on.”

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Dallas spread the ball around.

“Solid. Again, spread the ball around. We wanted to run it some more tonight. We did that,” Schottenheimer said. “But any time those two guys get ops, especially one-on-one, talking about CeeDee and George, they’re tough to defend.”

Philadelphia likes to play a lot of shell defense, Schottenheimer said Tuesday, and that was part of the Cowboys’ plan. Lamb scored on a 9-yard pass and a 16-yarder, and Pickens scored from 21 yards out.

“And then when you’re running the ball with the success that we have, they have to make adjustments. And when they do, then you get one-on-one opportunities,” Schottenheimer said. “And it was really cool to see both CeeDee and George get in the end zone when they were matched up one-on-one.”

Lamb On The Losses The Cowboys Should Have Won

Dallas had lost 24-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 8 and 23-13 to the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18. Lamb said the Cowboys could have won both.

“It was very important that we get this win, to be honest. For one, for the division and for what we want to do at the end of the year. Two, for, as you said, our confidence because losing two games that we feel like we could have, well, we should have won,” Lamb said. “Hey, living in that could have, would have, should have world, but I feel like that we could have won those games, very valid. It didn’t work out for us, but tonight we got it done, and we’re on to better things.”

When a game tightens, Lamb said, everybody on offense has to tighten up with it, from picking up the safety to the line doing its job.

“I would just say that, I mean, the energy of the game always exposes who we are because I feel like once the game gets tight, everybody’s tight. It’s time to tighten up as far as us picking up the safety or O-line having to do what they got to do,” Lamb said. “Dak making adjustments, calling checks. Just everybody being on their P’s and Q’s, and I feel like once we do that, we’re scheduled to be great.”

Receivers have to get more involved in the run game and give more effort, according to Lamb, who said Dallas has the depth to rotate when they tire.

“Maybe sometimes we can get a little fatigued. That’s what we have a Rolodex of receivers for,” Lamb said. “So just using our depth and overall just doing what we got to do and executing.”

George Pickens caught the Cowboys’ other touchdown pass, a 21-yarder in the second quarter. Ryan Flournoy caught 4 passes for 70 yards, including a 35-yarder on third-and-8 on Lamb’s first touchdown drive.

Dallas improved to 3-4 and hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon CT on FOX.
